Our goal is to educate you about the purpose and function of many of the Crusader marine engine parts required to keep your boat running smoothly. Whether you're a veteran seaman or a novice, one thing you all know is that a boat comes equipped with hundreds of moving parts.

No one person can know everything there is to know about the proper functioning of every boat part. That's why we've tapped the collective wisdom of our long-time technical experts to share their knowledge and expertise.

What You Need to Know About the Crusader 6.0L Exhaust Elbow

This exhaust elbow is unique to the 6.0L Crusader and PCM engine. The 6.0L engine is relatively new to the Pleasurecraft Engine Group (PEG) lineup. It’s a GM engine which PEG introduced in 2004. It represented a completely new product and allowed them to start from scratch designing an all-new marine engine package.

One of the new design changes was this exhaust elbow. The elbow is included as part of the closed cooling system allowing higher casting temperatures to reduce internal exhaust passage condensation. The added heat in the elbow along with the steep vertical downward discharge angle eliminates the potential for condensation to collect in the exhaust.

Like similar exhaust elbows that mix seawater with the exhaust, some maintenance will be required. A saltwater environment will require examination and service or replacement more often.
